Wow, this has been one busy year for all I am certain. The next couple of weeks will be posts dedicated to an annual wrap up of our three prominent programs- Parents as Teachers, Family Engagement within a School Setting, and PHP of WY year in review of course!
To jump start things- are you signed up for free Parents as Teachers™ services in your area?
Parents as Teachers™ programs this year have served close to 730 Wyoming children throughout multiple areas across the state; yet not many know of our existence. Parents as Teachers is a research based program that aims to help alleviate parental concerns over child development. Simply, it is a parent educator coming into your home bringing all kinds of toys and information that can help you- its play time for all involved!
Parents as Teachers programs are blended with many different organizations- for example many Early Head Starts, Head Starts, School Districts and a few stand alone programs exist in Wyoming willing and ready to serve you.
Did you know the program serves families with children with free visits, and group meetings ages prenatal to kindergarten entry? Indeed, Parents as Teachers parent educators conducted tens of thousands of prenatal and regular visits last year. These visits are often the first step in helping parents develop their personal brand of parenting skills and confidence. Early visits also provide a means of information sharing so future visits by a parent educator can be tailored to the family’s individual needs as well as enhance parents’ parenting skills…yes, even before a baby is born.
Our parent educators are specially trained to utilize the Parents as Teachers curriculum and would love to enroll you today!
